Nine-Day Manas Festival Kicks Off at Bansbari Range with Cultural Fervour and Global Appeal

Manas National Park in Assam has taken on a festive look with the beginning of the nine-day Manas Festival, which started on Friday, January 23, at the Bansbari Range of the park. The festival will continue till January 31 and aims to highlight the natural beauty, cultural richness, and tourism potential of the Manas region. Manas National Park, a Manas National Park, is also recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the start of the festival, the park has seen a lively atmosphere, drawing attention from visitors, local communities, and tourists.

The opening day of the festival began with a colourful cultural procession in the morning, featuring traditional music, dance, and attire. This was followed by the formal inauguration of the main festival gate and a tree plantation drive inside the park area. The main gate was inaugurated by Barin Boro, Range Officer of the Bansbari Range, in the presence of festival organisers, forest officials, and participants.The Manas Festival is being organised with the objective of promoting Manas on a global platform. The event focuses on showcasing local culture, traditional food, indigenous clothing, tea, handicrafts, and the overall tourism potential of the region.

To engage visitors, several attractions have been set up, including the Zubeen Garg Park, an ethnic village that presents the lifestyle of indigenous communities, a fun fair, and a trade fair. Cultural programmes, exhibitions, and other activities are scheduled throughout the nine days.Adding an international touch, representatives from neighbouring countries, including Bhutan, are also participating in the festival, strengthening cross-border cultural ties.
