A delegation of the Denzong Agricultural Co-operative Society (DACS) held a high-level meeting with officials of the Indian Army at the Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata on April 6 to finalise supply rates for the current financial year.The DACS team was led by Satish Chandra Rai and included senior officials of the cooperative and the state government. The meeting was chaired by Major General Sandeep Sinha of the Army Service Corps (ASC), Eastern Command, and attended by senior officers and finance officials from the Ministry of Defence.Officials said the main focus of the meeting was to negotiate rates for the supply of perishable items and meat to Army units stationed across Sikkim.
Both sides placed their views during the discussions and agreed on revised rates, with a reasonable increase from the previous structure.Issues related to contract approvals and ongoing coordination between the cooperative and the Army were also discussed in detail. Participants described the meeting as smooth and constructive, reflecting the long working relationship between the two sides.During the interaction, Satish Chandra Rai expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Government of India for restoring a three-year contract system for DACS. The contract will now run from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029, replacing the earlier annual renewal process.
He said the longer contract period would help ensure steady operations, improve financial planning, and benefit farmers associated with the cooperative across Sikkim.Major General Sandeep Sinha acknowledged the role of DACS in maintaining a steady and reliable supply chain for the Army in the region. He appreciated the consistent support provided by the cooperative over the years.
