Negligence won’t be tolerated: Nagaon DC warns govt employees after surprise visits

On Tuesday morning, Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sarma made unexpected trips to a number of Nagaon district offices. Sarma examined the offices of the District Inspector of Schools, the Deputy Inspector of Schools of the District Primary Education Department, and the Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department during the visits. He also confiscated the attendance records of the officials and other staff members working in those offices.

Sarma was disappointed by how few officials and staff were present in these offices. He underlined that it is intolerable for public servants and authorities to neglect their responsibilities, particularly when the government provides all of the facilities. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for regular people to go great distances for employment just to return empty-handed because officials and staff are not present.

Sarma gave the district’s authorities and workers instructions to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and to respect the government-established working hours. He underlined the significance of upholding a high standard of professionalism in government agencies and cautioned that carelessness in the performance of duties would not be accepted.
