NEAID to raise funds for Assam floods victims

Assam based non-profit organization, Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID) takes a crowd funding route to raise funds of INR 10 lakhs via online crowdfunding ImpactGuru.com for the welfare of the people affected in the flood prone areas. As per the Assam Disaster Management Authority, around 54,57,601 people have been affected by the recent flood. It selected seven different districts namely Morigaon, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Kamrup, Darrang, Dima-Haso, Nalbari and Bongaigaon. The initiative will majorly focus on people from marginalized communities, BPL families and daily wage earners.


For the current scenario, various activities which have been initiated and planned in the flood-affected districts of Assam are: Dry Ration Support is an initiative to provide 4000+ customized food packets to the people based on their economic status; Establishing breastfeeding cum changing corners in relief camps; Medical camps are planned in partnership with the health department in flood-affected areas; Specially designed kits are being provided to lactating mothers, children and pregnant women; Building make-shift shelters to the families who are staying at the roadside by building small huts and to households who need temporary arrangements to repair the roof of their ‘kutcha’ house; Veterinary camps are planned in partnership with the veterinary department to provide food for livestock; NEAID will work towards building the community and services which directly impact women and children’s well-being.
