1st Battalion NDRF celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a befitting manner today. Various physical and social activities were conducted by 1st Battalion NDRF on commemoration of 150th Birthday Anniversary of Mahatma Ghandi Ji in presence of Sh. R.S.Gill, Commandant, 1st Battalion NDRF.
Unity Run conducted by this Unit at Patgaon, Company locations i.e Mirza, Changsari and Regional Response Centre, Agartala, Tripura and all NDRF Rescuers participated and completed 10 Kms Run as part of the event. This generated feeling of wellness among the troops & physical fitness for good health.“Tree plantation Campaign” was carried at Battalion Headquarter Patgaon in which 200 saplings of different varieties were planted.
A massive Cleanliness drive was also organised at Internal State Bus Terminal Guwahati and subsequently at Patgaon and all Company location i.e. Mirza, pre-positioned team locations i.e. Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Jorhat, Cachar, IWT Uzan Bazar Ghat in the bank of River Brahamaputra Guwahati, Assam, Unakoti, Tripura & Regional Response Centre Aizawl (Mizoram)
Sh. R.S.Gill, Commandant, 1st Battalion NDRF said in his statement “ The air of freedom we breathe today is due to the supreme sacrifices of Gandhi ji and we must remember this radiant personality not only on Gandhi Jayanti day but everyday and follow in his footsteps to forge ahead in life”.
