In a major milestone for India’s space sector, the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has granted dual awarding body recognition to the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe). This recognition aims to enhance vocational training and skill development in space-related technologies, aligning with global standards and the Skill India Mission.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and Chairperson, NCVET. The collaboration allows IN-SPACe to offer advanced training in key areas like satellite manufacturing, space technology in agriculture, and propulsion systems for launch vehicles. NCVET also approved six National Occupational Standards (NoS) developed by IN-SPACe, setting a benchmark for specialized training.
This development resonates in Guwahati, where the growing demand for satellite-enabled agricultural solutions has spurred interest in advanced space technologies. The city’s agricultural market can benefit significantly from skilled professionals trained in space-tech applications, boosting productivity and sustainability. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director at IN-SPACe, lauded the partnership, calling it a “milestone for skilling India’s workforce for future space endeavors.” The initiative complements the ISRO Technical Training Program under MSDE, which has already trained thousands in cutting-edge technologies.
