Mumbai’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 2kg of pseudoephedrine from a kitchen parcel on its way to Australia, an official said on Wednesday.
On Monday, the NCB’s zonal unit raided the office of a courier company in Andheri, a western suburb, and recovered drugs from a consignment of kitchen equipment booked from Nagpur and bound for Australia, the official told ANI.
A team of NCB officials has been dispatched to search for the sender of the parcel, he added, adding that a case has been filed in this regard.
Pseudoephedrine is a stimulant that is also known to constrict the mucous membranes of the swollen nose and is used as a decongestant.
The official further said that an FIR has been lodged against the accused under the relevant section of the Narcotics and Narcotics Act (NDPS) Act and further investigation is underway.
