NASA Plans to Launch New Telescope for Exoplanet Research

NASA has announced plans to launch its next-generation space telescope, designed to search for Earth-like exoplanets. Named the “Horizon Explorer,” the telescope will be equipped with advanced infrared sensors to detect distant planets orbiting stars in habitable zones.

Scheduled for a 2027 launch, the Horizon Explorer will join existing telescopes like the James Webb Space Telescope in uncovering the mysteries of the universe. NASA scientists hope the mission will provide insights into the potential for life on other planets.

“This mission represents a major leap in our ability to explore beyond our solar system,” said NASA Administrator Lisa Thompson. The data collected will also contribute to ongoing research on planetary formation and the search for biosignatures.
