Assam has decided to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nagaland for exploration of oil. But Nagaland has not yet decided to sign MoU with state.
According to the reports, Nagaland government has decided to hold meeting with its stakeholders and tribal bodies of area before any confirmation about the agreement.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton said, “The government will hold a consultative meeting with all stakeholders before signing the MoU with Assam government.”
Not only a particular tribe but consultation will be held with tribal bodies and civil societies of Mon, Longleng, Mokokchung, Wokha, Nuiland, Dimapur and Peren, the oil-bearing areas of Nagaland, the DyCM added.
Therefore, the MoU is not yet signed for exploration of oil with Assam.
