The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has appointed G Ramesh Kumar as the new Chief General Manager (CGM) of its Assam Regional Office, marking a key leadership transition for the institution’s operations in the state. According to an official statement issued by NABARD, Kumar has assumed charge with immediate effect, succeeding Loken Das, who previously headed the regional office. A seasoned banking professional with more than three decades of experience in the financial sector, Kumar brings extensive expertise in rural and development banking, project financing and corporate debt financing. NABARD said his long association with development-oriented banking is expected to strengthen the organisation’s efforts in supporting rural growth and economic development across Assam.
The appointment comes at a time when NABARD continues to play a crucial role in promoting agricultural development, rural infrastructure and financial inclusion in the state. The institution has been actively involved in supporting farmers, self-help groups, rural entrepreneurs and various development projects aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening the rural economy. In its statement, NABARD noted that Kumar’s wide-ranging experience will help advance the institution’s focus on rural development, agricultural growth, infrastructure creation and inclusive financial services. His leadership is also expected to support ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing credit delivery systems and expanding development opportunities in rural areas.
