Mukul Roy is likely to meet Mamata Banerjee at the TMC headquarters today afternoon along with son Subhrangshu. Mamata Banerjee has a prescheduled meeting at the TMC headquarters at 3 pm on Friday.
Ever since the results of the West Bengal Assembly Elections were announced, in which the TMC registered a thumping victory, Roy has remained quiet and even skipped some BJP meetings. Roy, along with two other BJP heavyweights – Shamik Bhattacharya and Rajib Banerjee – could not be seen at the recent meeting of the party’s West Bengal unit. The development has come in the wake of several turncoat politicians, who had left the TMC to join the BJP ahead of Assembly polls, expressing regret over their move.
State BJP president Dilip Ghosh has also been facing protests at different places from disgruntled grassroots workers, who have alleged that turncoats were responsible for the party’s poor show in the assembly elections. There had also been protests at the state BJP offices here before the polls over tickets being given to some turncoats soon after joining the party.
