Guwahati, October 2020: As India gears up for the festive season and The Big Billion Days which starts from October 16, MSMEs across the country are looking forward to unlocking the potential of e-commerce to grow their business. Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace has been supporting such businesses with regular operational support, consumer insights, and constant business counseling to ensure that their online journey remains seamless.
With the festive season around the corner, Flipkart has launched its campaign #BestSeBhiBehtar to boost the morale of its existing and new seller partners by encouraging them to prepare for a festive season that promises uptake in consumer demand. Sellers from Guwahati are on this path already. With growing trust around the reliability of e-commerce, Flipkart currently has about 500 sellers in Assam who are running an online business.
One such seller is Ashwin Sethi who joined Flipkart in November 2019 soon after Flipkart introduced its seller services in Guwahati. He sells traditional Assamese sarees on Flipkart, popularly known as ‘Mekhola Chador’. Jahirul Islam Bora joined Flipkart in March, right before the pandemic. While he sold footballs, backpacks and hand pumps over the past few months, he is now preparing for The Big Billion Days with expansion of his product portfolio with new clothes and ethenic wear including men’s T-shirts and Kurtas.
To prepare MSMEs and micro-sellers for the upcoming festive season, Flipkart is also hosting several virtual learning and development events. Sellers from Assam also attended this event and are all set to gain the benefits of e-commerce during the festivities. Flipkart has also partnered with the Government of Assam to benefit weavers and artisans by introducing their hallmark products from the state
