MSDE Secretary Reviews Programs at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati

During her two-day tour of Assam, Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), visited the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) on Wednesday. The visit included an inspection of various key facilities such as the Mountaineering Sports Arena, the Food and Beverages Incubation Centre, the Training of Trainers programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, and the TRISSAM outlet. These ventures underline the institute’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and capacity building within the region.

Mukherjee also toured the newly established Skill India International Centre located on the IIE campus, where she engaged in an interaction with entrepreneurs trained by the institute, who presented a diverse range of products. She motivated these entrepreneurs to utilize skill development and entrepreneurship opportunities effectively to cultivate sustainable livelihoods.

In her address to the institute’s leadership, Mukherjee emphasized the importance of strengthening skill development initiatives, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing employability in the Northeastern region. She reaffirmed the Government of India’s dedication to providing opportunities and support to talent from all regions, advocating for a vision that encourages youth to become job creators instead of job seekers.

Additionally, Mukherjee led the 50th Executive Meeting of IIE, where she collaborated with key stakeholders in the skill ecosystem to evaluate ongoing initiatives under the Skill India Mission. Pritam Dutta, Director of MSDE and IIE, welcomed her warmly, expressing appreciation for her visit and insights while reinforcing the institute’s dedication to enhancing entrepreneurial and livelihood opportunities in the area. Accompanying Mukherjee during the visit were several high-ranking officials from MSDE, including Hena Usman, G. Madhumita Das, Dr. Poonam Sinha, Rishab Khattri, Manish Gupta, and Manju.
