MSDE holds workshop on PMKVY 4.0 implementation, focuses on skilling ecosystem

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organized a workshop under its Kaushal Manthan initiative to assess the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0). The event, held at Kaushal Bhavan, New Delhi, brought together representatives from National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), IITs, IIMs, and other key institutions to discuss performance, challenges, and future strategies.

MSDE Secretary ShriAtul Kumar Tiwari chaired the workshop, emphasizing the role of Awarding Bodies in ensuring high-quality skill certification. “India’s skilling ecosystem has gained global recognition. We must align training with industry needs and integrate skills into mainstream education,” he stated. The ministry highlighted that over 1.6 crore candidates have been trained under PMKVY since 2015, with PMKVY 4.0 aiming to expand industry-led training and improve trainer and content quality. A key highlight was the discussion on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), which streamlines certification processes. Participants also addressed challenges such as expanding the assessor pool, integrating gamification in training, and institutionalizing industry consultations for better job alignment.

In Guwahati , industry leaders stressed the need for customized skill training tailored to Assam’s growing sectors, including IT, tourism, and agro-processing. The region’s job market is seeing rising demand for trained professionals, and local businesses welcomed PMKVY’s focus on making skill development more aspirational and industry-aligned. The event concluded with an open forum, where over 150 stakeholders, including MSDE Joint Secretary Smt. Sonal Mishra and NSDC Vice President Shri Rishikesh Patankar, shared insights on enhancing skilling initiatives.
