The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Monday announced a strategic partnership with Google and Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS University) to advance the adoption of artificial intelligence in higher and vocational education. The announcement was made on the 123rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh. The collaboration aims to transform CCS University into India’s first AI-enabled university, with a focus on improving employability and bridging the India–Bharat divide. By leveraging AI tools, the initiative seeks to empower youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions, addressing language, access and skill gaps.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said the initiative places strong emphasis on vernacular learning and inclusion. He noted that enabling students to learn in their mother tongue while mastering global technologies would help create a skills-driven and merit-based workforce. Under the memorandum of understanding, CCS University will serve as the pilot institution for developing and implementing an AI Adoption Framework. Senior officials from MSDE, Google India and CCS University were present at the event.
In Guwahati, the initiative could have a positive ripple effect in the Northeast, where demand for AI-enabled skills is steadily rising across education, IT services and startups. Institutions and training centres in Guwahati are expected to align with similar frameworks, helping local youth access emerging digital job opportunities without migrating to larger metros.
