The North-Eastern Skill & Entrepreneurship Conclave, known as ‘Manthan2023’ was inaugurated by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology, and Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Education and External Affairs. The event, held from September 1 to September 3 at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, Assam, serves as a dynamic platform for collaboration and convergence in the field of skilling and entrepreneurship in the northeastern region of India.
The Conclave aims to bring together various stakeholders, including ministries, state governments, academia, industry associations, institutions, policymakers, corporations, and beneficiaries, to deliberate on skill and entrepreneurship development in the North-East. It seeks to achieve several key objectives: (1) Disseminate the vision of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) for the North-Eastern region, emphasizing the development of entrepreneurship and skills while strengthening the overall ecosystem. (2) Discuss the benefits of MSDE’s special package for the North Eastern Region (NER). (3) Reinforce regional networks, stimulate innovative strategies, and create a roadmap for fostering entrepreneurship and skill development in the NER.The Conclave underscores MSDE’s commitment to enhancing skill development and entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on empowering the youth of the region through a comprehensive package. Additionally, it explores various aspects of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, including financial support, livelihood opportunities, and the emerging startup culture in the North-East, with the goal of fostering cooperation and synergy among stakeholders to create a robust entrepreneurial environment.
During the first day of the Conclave, MSDE launched three residential skill training programs in electric vehicle service technician, solar panel installation technician, and electrical technician, as part of a strategic partnership between the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) and IIT Guwahati.Overall, the Manthan Conclave represents a significant effort to promote skill development and entrepreneurship in the North-Eastern region of India through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the exploration of innovative strategies.
