MSDE collaborates with Meta to enhance Skill India Mission through AI and VR initiatives

The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has announced a strategic partnership with Meta, unveiling two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at revolutionizing India’s skill development landscape. The collaboration will see the launch of an AI Assistant for the Skill India Mission and the establishment of five Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR).

Under this initiative, an AI-powered chatbot, leveraging Meta’s open-source Llama model, will enhance user experiences on the Skill India Digital (SID) Portal. This innovative tool aims to streamline information access, boost learning outcomes, and provide 24/7 support for students. Additionally, the five CoEs, located at National Skill Training Institutes in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Chennai, and Kanpur, will equip learners with cutting-edge VR technology, fostering immersive and engaging learning environments.

Commenting on the partnership, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, stated, “Integrating AI and VR into our ecosystem is pivotal for democratizing access to advanced technologies, enabling personalized learning pathways for the youth.” In Guwahati, this partnership presents significant opportunities for local educators and entrepreneurs. The introduction of advanced training methods and resources can enhance employability among the region’s youth, potentially attracting investments and fostering a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of the digital economy. With the Skill India Digital Portal already a cornerstone of skilling efforts, these initiatives promise to transform the educational landscape across the country.
