A mob of around 40 men yesterday entered a house and abducted a 24-year-old Telangana woman on the day of her engagement, a tense video clip of the incident shows. After an hour-long police operation, she was safely rescued and some of the accused were picked up. A case has also been filed.
The woman was a Bachelor of Dental Surgery graduate and working as a house surgeon, was kidnaped from her own home in Adibatla village of Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad in Telangana.
The woman’s parents alleged that around 100 youths barged into their house and forcibly abducted their daughter Vaishali. The video shows at least 30 people attacking houses, breaking car windows and dragging one person out of the house and beating them with sticks and rods.
The family has accused a man, Naveen Reddy, of harassing the woman to marry him, leading the mob and abducting her. Navin owns a franchise for a branded tea shop and built a glass-walled cafe right opposite her house like movies. After abducting her, Vaishali’s parents brought down and demolished that shop.
Naveen accompanied the workers of his tea stall, claiming that his ‘wife don’t want to stay with him and he wanted to take her home. The woman said that she was in a relationship but she was not married to him. Police have arrested 18 people, but the main accused Naveen is still absconding. Police said they are trying to identify others and arrest them.
Ibrahimpatnam police said that Vaishali is a dentist and the daughter of an ex-army. She met Naveen at a badminton court and the two became close. Naveen even reportedly bought her a car from his multi-level marketing business that raised the money.
Later, Naveen proposes to her for marriage, but she rejects the proposal. Then he started to harass her on Instagram and other social media platforms and she sue him alleging stalking.
Yesterday, Vaishali was going to be engaged when Naveen barged in with around 40 people and attacked the girl’s family, house and vandalized the car. They took the 24-year-old medico but later released her on her own, after which she called her parents.
