Montra Electric has strengthened its presence in eastern India by inaugurating its first electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) dealership in West Bengal at Howrah, Kolkata, marking the company’s entry into one of the country’s emerging electric mobility markets. The facility, launched in partnership with Next Drive Mobility, will offer sales, service and spare parts support for Montra Electric’s EVIATOR range of electric commercial vehicles. The dealership was inaugurated by Montra Electric CEO (e-SCV) Saju Nair along with Next Drive Mobility Dealer Principal SaurabhKhetan, DevanshAgarwal and SudarshanSarda. The launch comes as the company’s EVIATOR fleet crossed 1,000 vehicles nationwide, with the EVIATOR 350L having secured over 30 per cent market share in the 3.5-tonne e-SCV segment in FY25 within a year of its launch.
The EVIATOR lineup includes E350, E350L and E350L+ variants, featuring battery capacities of up to 50 kWh, a payload capacity of 1.7 tonnes, a loading deck of 10.3 feet and a real-world driving range of over 200 km. The vehicles also support CCS2 DC fast charging, reaching 80 per cent charge in about 60 minutes. In Howrah, the dealership launch reflects the city’s growing importance as an electric commercial vehicle hub. Industry players believe Howrah and neighbouring Howrah have witnessed stronger adoption of electric small commercial vehicles than many other parts of West Bengal, driven by expanding last-mile delivery operations and increasing demand for cleaner transport solutions. However, diesel-powered commercial fleets continue to dominate the broader state market, leaving significant scope for further electrification.
Montra Electric said the new dealership forms part of its nationwide expansion strategy aimed at strengthening after-sales support while accelerating the adoption of zero-emission commercial mobility across key logistics markets in India.
