Mizoram Health Department plans vaccination campaign to eradicate measles and rubella

The Health Department is preparing for the vaccination campaign. The following statement was issued in this regard. Measles and Rubella diseases are prevalent in Mizoram, causing complications. The Indian government plans to eradicate them by December 2023 using vaccines. The Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 will be launched in August, September, and October to ensure vaccination for pregnant women and children. The Mizoram Health Department is preparing to implement the campaign throughout the state.

The Universal Immunisation Programme provides vaccines to pregnant women and children against 11 diseases, including smallpox, tetanus, and infant and maternal mortality. The program has led to global eradication and reduced infant and maternal mortality rates. Universal Immunization Programme, NHM and MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation & Equity Project, John Snow India organized training for media personnel today.

Dr. A.S. Gopal Krishna Soni, Project Director, USAID supported MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation & Equity Project said, “IMI 5.0 is a vaccine that can prevent various diseases. IMI 5.0 is a vaccine that can prevent vaccines. If health workers, media workers, and the public work together, our country will be healthier and free from many diseases”.
