Ministry of Skill Development partners with Swiggy to boost workforce skills through new initiative

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy to launch the ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative. This partnership aims to provide comprehensive skilling and employment opportunities within Swiggy’s expansive food delivery and quick commerce network.

The initiative will integrate Swiggy’s platform with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), offering online courses, certifications, and training modules to Swiggy’s 2.4 lakh delivery partners and restaurant staff. This alignment supports the Government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision by addressing the logistics sector’s growth potential, with Rs 80 lakh crore earmarked for development in this area.Minister of State (I/C) Shri Jayant Chaudhary emphasized the pivotal role of the logistics sector, stating, “Our government is committed to fostering growth through public-private partnerships. This collaboration with Swiggy will create new avenues for the workforce and enhance the sector’s economic contribution.”

The initiative also promises to benefit Guwahati, where Swiggy’s presence is growing. The integration with SIDH is expected to boost local employment by providing access to skill development resources for residents involved in food delivery and retail management, supporting the region’s economic growth and offering new career opportunities. Swiggy’s CEO, Shri Rohit Kapoor, highlighted the dual impact of the initiative: “We are excited to integrate with SIDH, enabling our ecosystem to access vital training resources and creating new job roles within our operations. This partnership will drive skill development across our network and strengthen the logistics and retail sectors.”
