Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, has commenced a nine-day official tour to four countries, starting with Mexico from September 30 to October 2. During this visit, he will represent India at the presidential inauguration of Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations with Mexico, a key political and economic partner in the region.
Following Mexico, Margherita will travel to Grenada (October 2-4), Barbados (October 4-6), and Antigua and Barbuda (October 6-8). This tour aims to solidify India’s ties with Latin American and Caribbean nations. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that this is the first ministerial-level visit to Grenada since 2018 and only the second in history.
In addition to meeting with foreign ministers, the Minister will engage with political leaders and industry representatives. His itinerary includes interactions with ITEC alumni and the Indian diaspora, showcasing India’s commitment to fostering deeper political, economic, and cultural ties. Guwahati , known for its vibrant trade activities, stands to benefit from increased diplomatic engagement, potentially enhancing business opportunities between India and Latin America. The tour is expected to pave the way for enhanced collaboration with partners in the Global South.
