With the aim of increasing voter awareness in the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly eections, particularly to attract young voters, a special voter awareness programme titled “Power of Vote” was organised today by the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration under the SVEEP initiative in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club and Nirbak.
At the beginning of the program held at Dispur College, Principal Dr Nabajyoti Bora delivered the inaugural speech, emphasizing the importance of increasing voter awareness and describing voting as a sacred duty. Assistant Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan district Richivandana Gogoi highlighted the importance of such creative initiatives in raising awareness among the youth regarding voting.
The main attraction of the programme was an engaging mime performance on the theme of the power of voting, directed by Minangk Deka of Nirbak. Several talented young artistes conveyed a strong positive message about the importance, necessity and responsibility of voting through their expressive mime performances.
