MG strengthens new energy strategy with India’s first multi-NEV platform

JSW MG Motor India has strengthened its long-term electric mobility strategy with the unveiling of MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology), India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform designed to support Electric Vehicles (EVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Range Extender Electric Vehicles (REEVs) on a single intelligent architecture. The company also announced plans to introduce one EV and one PHEV built on the platform by FY 2026-27, expanding its future-ready product pipeline.

Developed as a modular architecture, MG ADAPT integrates a dedicated hybrid engine, a dedicated battery system, India’s first 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and the world’s first Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. An Intelligent Energy Management System continuously optimises performance through four drive modes—Pure Electric Drive, Series Hybrid Drive, Parallel Hybrid Drive and Engine Direct Drive—enhancing driving range, fast-charging capability, fuel efficiency, safety, refinement and overall vehicle performance. The platform also supports REEV technology, allowing an electric-first driving experience with a petrol engine functioning solely as a battery generator for extended range. Managing Director AnuragMehrotra said MG ADAPT represents a defining milestone in the company’s New Energy Vehicle journey and will serve as the technological backbone for its future portfolio, offering customers greater flexibility in choosing energy solutions without compromising on efficiency or driving experience.

The launch is expected to generate interest in Assam’s growing new energy vehicle market, where demand for cleaner mobility solutions is steadily increasing. Buyers in Guwahati could benefit from the platform’s multiple powertrain options, particularly hybrid and range-extender technologies that address long-distance travel requirements in the Northeast. With charging infrastructure gradually expanding across the region, MG’s flexible NEV strategy is likely to strengthen competition and broaden consumer choice in the premium mobility segment.
