Medanta to build 400+ bed super-speciality hospital in Guwahati with Rs 500 cr investment

Medanta – Global Health Limited, one of India’s leading private multi-specialty tertiary care providers, has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art, 400+ bed hospital in Guwahati. The new facility, coming up at Industrial Estate, Sarusajai along NH-27, marks a major push in Medanta’s mission to expand advanced healthcare access in underserved regions. With an estimated investment of ₹500 crore, the hospital will provide tertiary and quaternary care across a wide range of super-specialties. Founded by Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, and Dr. B.C. Roy Awardee Dr. Naresh Trehan, Medanta is modeled on global medical leaders including Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins. Currently, Medanta operates six hospitals across Gurgaon, Indore, Ranchi, Lucknow, Patna, and Noida with over 3,300 beds. Besides Guwahati, expansion plans are underway in Mumbai and Delhi, adding 2,000 more beds.

The upcoming Medanta unit is expected to significantly boost Guwahati’s healthcare landscape, which has rapidly evolved as the Northeast’s medical hub. With increasing demand for advanced treatments and medical tourism potential from neighbouring states and border regions, experts believe the project will elevate Guwahati’s healthcare infrastructure and strengthen its position as a key regional healthcare destination.

“We believe quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege,” Dr. Trehan said, emphasizing Medanta’s vision for accessible, high-end medical care. The facility will offer comprehensive transplant programs, advanced oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, and robotic surgeries. It is also expected to create 5,000–7,000 direct and indirect jobs, boosting the region’s socio-economic development.
