Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, ranked India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six years running, wrapped up a three-day multi-speciality medical camp in Kohima on June 27, 2025. Organized in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland, the initiative provided free health check-ups to more than 400 individuals, aiming to improve healthcare access in the underserved northeastern state.
The camp was held at three venues: the IDAN Capital Convention Center, the Directorate of Industries and Commerce Office, and the Nagaland Police Headquarters. Key dignitaries included Nagaland Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, Industries Director P. Tokugha Sema, and DGP Rupin Sharma.
The initiative follows a MoU signed between Medanta and the Nagaland government under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). Addressing healthcare gaps—especially high cancer rates due to tobacco use—Medanta Chairman Dr. Naresh Trehan emphasized that “quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.” Guwahati, as a major healthcare hub in Northeast India, has often served as the nearest centre for specialized treatment for Nagaland residents. The success of this camp is expected to reduce medical travel burdens on patients frequently referred to Guwahati hospitals for advanced diagnosis and care.
