McDonald’s has opened its first-ever restaurant in Gangtok, Sikkim, marking a significant milestone for the global fast-food giant. Located at West Point Mall, the 2,240 sq. ft. outlet offers a seating capacity of 116 and features a modern design with globally inspired décor and amenities aimed at enhancing the dining experience.
Speaking at the launch, Rajeev Ranjan, Managing Director of McDonald’s India – North and East, said, “We are excited to bring the McDonald’s experience to Gangtok, a vibrant and rapidly growing city in Sikkim. This expansion reflects our commitment to making McDonald’s accessible to more people across the Northeast region.” The inauguration was graced by Bhoj Raj Rai, Sikkim’s Urban Development Minister.
Gangtokis abuzz with anticipation as locals and tourists alike embrace the arrival of the global chain. Known for its unique blend of modernity and culture, Gangtok’s vibrant crowd is expected to drive significant footfall, with the new outlet promising convenience, affordability, and a diverse menu catering to all tastes. The restaurant features self-order kiosks, table service, and a menu that includes McDonald’s classics like the Maharaja Mac and McSpicy Burger. McDonald’s India also highlighted its focus on youth employment, aiming to create opportunities for underprivileged communities in the region. This launch is part of McDonald’s expansion strategy in Northeast India, aiming to blend global standards with local relevance.
