ManipalCigna Health Insurance has intensified its efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across Northeast India through its flagship product ManipalCigna Sarvah, which was recognised as the Product of the Year 2025 in the health insurance category following a consumer survey conducted by NielsenIQ. Designed to simplify and widen the reach of health insurance, the product offers comprehensive and flexible coverage tailored to the evolving medical needs of families across the Northeast, ranging from essential protection for first-time buyers to advanced plans featuring innovative benefits such as zero waiting period options.
As part of its regional expansion strategy, the company has strengthened its distribution and service network and now operates eight branches across key cities in the Northeast. It has set a target to onboard around 10,000 advisors in the region over the next three years, including a focused initiative to empower 3,000 women as health insurance advisors to enhance community participation and last-mile service delivery. Commenting on the expansion, Sapna Desai said the company remains committed to making quality healthcare affordable, inclusive and accessible for households across the Northeast. She noted that the strong adoption of the Sarvah product reflects growing customer trust, while the company’s association with football icon Bhaichung Bhutia is helping deepen local engagement and encourage conversations around health, wellness and financial protection.
The Sarvah product portfolio includes multiple plan options addressing diverse healthcare and financial protection needs, such as comprehensive coverage with an infinite protection option, immediate Day-1 coverage with zero waiting period and unlimited sum assured benefits, and an affordable plan designed for the “missing middle,” suitable for both first-time policyholders and those seeking enhanced coverage against major illnesses and accident-related hospitalisation. Vishal Surana said the company’s Northeast expansion is focused on building a strong advisor-led ecosystem rooted in local communities to deliver personalised services and improve insurance penetration across the region.
ManipalCigna Health Insurance Company Limited, a joint venture between Manipal Group and Cigna Healthcare, is headquartered in Mumbai and operates more than 120 branches across India with over one lakh agents and more than 500 distribution partners, serving customers in over 500 cities through a network of more than 15,000 hospitals nationwide. In the Northeast alone, the company has tie-ups with more than 100 hospitals, enabling easier access to treatment and healthcare financing. The insurer also offers a pre-marriage maternity policy with a waiting period of only three years, while its senior citizen health insurance plan begins at the age of 56 and carries no upper age limit, making healthcare protection more inclusive for the elderly. Highlighting the region’s healthcare challenges, Sapna Desai said the Northeast has a particularly high demand for health insurance due to higher cancer incidence, maternal mortality and premature death rates compared to many other parts of the country. Rohit Mittal and Vishal Surana added that the planned onboarding of 10,000 representatives, including 3,000 women advisors, will help build a strong community-based network and strengthen last-mile engagement and personalised service delivery across the region.
