Manipal Hospitals expands cancer care outreach to Cooch Behar under ‘Anveshana’ initiative

Manipal Hospitals has expanded its cancer care outreach in North Bengal by taking its flagship ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’ initiative to Cooch Behar. The move aims to address rising cancer cases in the region by promoting early detection and highlighting the availability of advanced treatment closer to home.

The session, led by oncology experts Dr. Anirban Nag and Dr. Arkoprovo Halder from Manipal Hospital Rangapani, focused on tackling low awareness and delayed diagnosis—key challenges in districts like Cooch Behar. Doctors stressed that early-stage detection significantly improves treatment outcomes and reassured patients about access to advanced surgical and medical oncology services within North Bengal.

The Rangapani facility’s Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre offers chemotherapy, advanced radiation therapy, and complex surgeries under one roof, reducing dependency on metro cities. The hospital is also strengthening outreach through teleconsultations and regular OPDs in Cooch Behar to ensure timely diagnosis and specialist access in remote areas.

In Cooch Behar, the initiative is expected to curb patient migration to urban healthcare hubs, lowering treatment costs for families while boosting demand for local diagnostics and allied services. This shift could strengthen the regional healthcare economy and encourage further investment in medical infrastructure.
