Manipal Hospitals’ ‘Anveshana’ brings spotlight on advanced GI, renal and cardiac care in South 24 Parganas

Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, one of Eastern India’s leading healthcare providers under the Manipal Hospitals Group, hosted its flagship awareness initiative ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’ in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas on Monday. The session highlighted the rising burden of gastrointestinal, kidney-related, and cardiac diseases across Eastern India and stressed timely diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment.

Experts including Dr. Saurav Mukherjee (Gastroenterology), Dr. Rohit Rungta (Nephrology) and Dr. Debopriyo Mondal (Interventional Cardiology) discussed evolving disease patterns, lifestyle-linked risks and advancements in precision diagnostics, endoscopic procedures, dialysis support and catheter-based cardiac therapies such as TAVR and complex coronary interventions. Healthcare demand in South 24 Parganas continues to rise due to population density, limited specialist access in peripheral blocks, and growing awareness around lifestyle diseases. Patients here traditionally travelled to Kolkata for specialised treatment. With Manipal Hospital introducing outreach initiatives like Anveshana, market observers expect improved access to expert gastroenterology, nephrology and cardiology services closer to underserved communities, reducing medical travel expenditures for local families.

Anveshana, derived from the Sanskrit word for “seeking and discovering,” reinforces Manipal Hospitals’ focus on responsible health communication and specialist access in remote regions. The initiative has previously been held in Tamluk, Contai, Bardhaman, Jamshedpur, Aizawl, Malda, Dinajpur, Darjeeling and Bolpur. The programme culminated with discussions on preventive healthcare, early symptom recognition and the launch of a Media Privilege Card to improve access to hospital services and streamline healthcare communication for journalists.
