A pan-India infrastructure consultancy firm, Rodic Consultants Pvt Ltd completed the 1.9 km long ‘MaitriSetu’ project over river Feni. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday. As Authority Engineer, Rodic was responsible for the supervision of construction of the Bridge over river Feni at Sabroom on Indo-Bangladesh Border on NH-8 in Tripura.
Steered by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), the bridge will establish direct connectivity from South Tripura to Chattogram (Chittagong) in Bangladesh. The Bridge will provide much shorter access of this landlock North-Eastern Region to the port from present 1,700 km to Haldia Port to 70 km to Chattogram Port. ‘MaitriSetu’ is expected to promote friendly ties and bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh. The construction of all the 12 foundations of the bridge up to the pier cap level has been done with a superstructure level of 232 metres. Besides opening new economic opportunities for the local population, the bridge will provide a direct access to the international seaports in the north-east region and promote tourism in Tripura.
