In a bid to create a more inclusive and dynamic skilling ecosystem, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the Marathi version of the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) during the Vishwa Marathi Sammelan 2025 at Fergusson College in Pune. The initiative, launched alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Eknath Shinde and Shri Ajit Pawar, aims to break language barriers and empower the state’s youth with accessible skill development tools in their native language.
The SIDH platform, offering over 7,000 courses, including in-demand areas such as AI, Machine Learning, and Drone Technology, will provide Marathi-speaking individuals with tailored resources for career growth. The event highlighted the platform’s rapid success, with Maharashtra ranking among the top states in terms of registrations and user traffic, showcasing its widespread appeal.
A notable feature of the initiative is its focus on linguistic inclusivity, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. “With the Marathi version of SIDH, we aim to ensure that language never becomes a barrier to skilling,” said Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC. The platform has recorded more than 1.26 crore registrations nationally, with Maharashtra’s contribution being significant. In Guwahati, the growing demand for digital skilling platforms is mirrored by increasing interest in specialized courses in IT and electronics, showing a similar trend to Maharashtra’s. Local youth, eager to upskill and tap into emerging sectors, are embracing these digital opportunities for professional development.
