Recently clashes occurred during a Ram Navami procession in the Khargone district, about 318 km from the capital city of Bhopal. The state government of Madhya Pradesh has allocated Rs.1 crore to aid those who had been affected by the clashes.
The Khargone district PRO posted in the Twitter that:
As violence broke out during Ram Navami processions in the state, several people were left injured in Khargone and Barwani, another district.
Around 50 people including the DSP Siddharth Choudhary were injured in Khargone district. Vehicles were torched during the riots and several houses were also damaged. Over 40 FIRs have been registered by the police. They have arrested over 140 people in this case.
The state government had announced about the compensation for the affected families. A compensation of 4 lakh was announced for the family of those who had died or were seriously injured and also 2 lakh compensation was announced for the disabled people. Also Rs. 59,100 was given to the partially-disabled and Rs. 25,000 to those who had minor injuries. The houses of some people who were allegedly involved in the clashes have been razed by the government authorities.
