Lancer Container Lines Ltd, a leading player in India’s shipping and logistics sector, has announced a strategic agreement with Indonesian firm P.T. Map Trans Logistic, Surabaya, to lease 10,000 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units). This significant deal, signed by Lancer’s Managing Director Mr. Khalik Chataiwala and P.T. Map Trans Logistic’s Director Mr. Praful Jha, is set to enhance Lancer’s container capacity from nearly 20,000 TEUs in FY24 to 45,000 by FY26.
In Q1 FY25, Lancer expanded its fleet by 3,008 TEUs, bringing its total to 22,707 TEUs. The company plans to add 200-300 containers monthly to meet growing demand, while also exploring new vessel acquisitions to become a fully integrated service provider. For FY24, Lancer reported revenue of Rs. 646.8 crore, EBITDA of Rs. 88.1 crore, and a net profit of Rs. 58.3 crore, reflecting its improved operational performance and profitability.
Kolkata , a key hub for shipping logistics, will benefit from this expansion. As Lancer grows its fleet and service capabilities, Kolkata’s strategic position in India’s logistics network makes it a prime beneficiary of increased container volumes and enhanced shipping routes. This expansion aligns with the broader industry trend, where India aims to elevate its logistics market from US$ 317.26 billion in 2024 to US$ 484.43 billion by 2029.
