Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya highlighted the significance of women’s participation in nation-building and emphasized the need for empowering women for national progress. At the Women Achievers’ Award 2026 ceremony, organized by the FICCI Ladies Organisation, Acharya highlighted the central and state governments’ initiatives to strengthen women’s empowerment through welfare and development schemes. Five outstanding women achievers from the Northeast were honored, including Dhananda Pathak, a marathon runner, Kmoin Wahlang, a social entrepreneur, Ratna Dey, an entrepreneur and exporter, and K. Chokhone, founder of Dianthe Private Limited. Acharya praised the awardees’ dedication, perseverance, and achievements, recalling legendary figures like Sati Joymoti and Kanaklata Barua as symbols of bravery and sacrifice.
