KRAFTON renames BGMI LITE as BGMI Air after crossing 10 million pre-registrations

KRAFTON India on Thursday announced that its upcoming mobile gaming title, earlier known as BGMI LITE, will now be called BGMI Air, after crossing 10 million pre-registrations ahead of its planned launch in India later this year.

The new identity marks the company’s effort to expand access to the core BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) experience through a lighter version designed to accommodate players across devices with different storage capacities.

KRAFTON said pre-registration for BGMI Air opened for Android users in India on Google Play on August 25, 2026. With an initial download size of around 1GB, the game aims to offer a more accessible entry point while retaining key elements of the original gameplay.

The company also announced that an open beta would be introduced shortly to collect player feedback and further refine the gaming experience. Existing BGMI players will not need to transfer their accounts, as BGMI Air will be accessible separately.

Further updates and launch-related information will be shared through the game’s official Instagram page and other official channels.

KRAFTON India’s flagship title, BGMI, has surpassed 260 million downloads. The company also has a presence in esports and game development, and said it has invested more than $250 million in Indian start-ups across interactive entertainment, gaming, esports and technology since 2021. It has also launched a ₹6,000-crore KRAFTON India Unicorn Growth Fund with Naver and Mirae Asset to support high-potential start-ups.
