Ashok Vaswani has been appointed as the next Managing Director & CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term, starting from January 1, 2024. Dipak Gupta, Managing Director & CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, welcomed Vaswani and said his values and experience align with Kotak’s vision to become a tech-enabled, customer-centric financial institution for the future.
Ashok Vaswani, who has a proven track record of building and growing global businesses at scale, has a compelling business vision to deliver strong growth. He has held positions at Citigroup and Barclays, where he was Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Bank, UK, and CEO of their GlobalConsumer, Private, Corporate, and Payments businesses. Ashok has also served as CEO of Citigroup Asia Pacific, and a member of the Group Executive Committee.
He is currently President of Pagya Technologies Ltd, a US-Israeli AIFintech. Ashok is also on the Board of the London Stock Exchange Group and the SP Jain Institute of Global Management, UK, and supports various philanthropic organizations.
