Kolkata boy makes sculpture of a Horse-drawn tram

Trams are the oldest existing tram network operating in India, and oldest operating tramway in Asia. Calcutta Tramways Company (CTC) which later became West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) 1902 started in electric tramway in India. But even before that Kolkata used to have Horse-drawn trams. The first horse-drawn trams in India ran for 2.4 miles (3.9 km) between Sealdah and Armenian Ghat Street on 24 February 1873. The service was discontinued on 20 November of that year.

An artist from Kolkata has made a sculpture of the “Horse-drawn tram”. Joydeb Shil, a resident of Madhugar, Dumdum of Kolkata is a sculpture artist. He was fascinated about trams and its cultural heritage for the city of Kolkata. So he decided to make the sculpture of a Horse-drawn tram.

Joydeb is only 22 years old holds the record for Painting of Lord Devi Durga on Man Kanchu (Taro Root), he has done this painting with water color and took 20 minute to be done completely from International Talent Book of Records on 10/11/2020. He has also been presented the Certificate of Excellence from Indian Book of Records for the Painting. Such Talent is rare and should be appreciated.
