Kokrajhar Violence: One Dead, Four Seriously Hurt as Police Arrest 18

One person was killed, and four others were seriously injured in mob violence in Gaurinagar, Kokrajhar district, Assam, on January 19. The deceased, Sikhna Jwhwlao Bismit, was from Bagaribari. The violence erupted around 7:30 PM following an altercation between two groups, escalating when a Scorpio vehicle was set on fire. The injured individuals, including Mahesh Murmu, Sunil Murmu, and Jugiraj Brahma, are receiving critical care at Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital. Initial investigations suggest the conflict may have originated from a road accident involving the Scorpio. Although police have arrested 18 individuals and intensified security in the area to maintain order, the situation remains tense but controlled as investigations continue into the incident and those involved.
