Junior doctor hold a meeting to decide the their further actions

Junior doctor of West Bengal hold a meeting to decide future course of action against the RG Kar incident. Some senior medics urged them to reconsider their ‘complete cease work’ in light of the sufferings of ordinary patients. The junior doctors renewed their ‘cease work’ on October 1 after an attack on medics by a patient’s family at the state-run College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital in the last week of September.

Dr. Aniket Mahato, one of the agitated doctors, told the reporters that a general body meeting would be held at R G Kar Hospital shortly. He also stated that it may take some time, but that the decision will be communicated to the media as soon as feasible. Many people asked junior doctors if they would consider a partial departure due to the flood scenario and the continued suffering of patients. The doctor stated that they will investigate each circumstance before making a judgment.

Dr. Maitrayee Bandyopadhyay, head of the microbiology department, told sources that all of the doctors simply want justice for the raped and killed lady doctor. She proposed to the junior medics that they partially lift the cease work order and provide emergency and OPD services. Junior doctors had earlier declared a 41-day work stoppage following the rape and murder of a fellow medic on August 9 at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. They concluded their walkout on September 21 after meeting with state authorities and resuming critical services. However, after a patient’s family attacked doctors and nurses at Sagore Dutta Hospital, the situation worsened further.
