Johnson & Johnson and Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) are collaborating to impact over 7 million children in India over the next five years through the Sight for Kids program, which aims to provide comprehensive eye care services to children in low-income and underserved communities.
In 2024, over 500 children in Kolkata, India, underwent a vision screening, bringing the total number of vision assessments in India to over 28 million. Over 75,000 teachers were trained in basic eye health to promote early detection and care. The program, Sight For Kids, not only transforms children’s lives but also engages entire communities, empowering parents, teachers, and communities to help each child reach their full potential. Christoph Vonwiller, President, Asia Pacific Vision, Johnson & Johnson MedTech, said, “We are proud to be making a difference in these children’s lives, and through our continued collaboration, we hope to impact many more lives in India and Asia Pacific.”
LCIF is partnering with Operation Smile to conduct outreach and awareness around cleft conditions, focusing on visual acuity tests and screening for common eye conditions. Johnson & Johnson is the official suture partner of Operation Smile, aiming to promote health equity through safe surgery access. Sight For Kids, founded in 2002, is the largest school-based eye health program globally, serving over 49 million children in Asia, Africa, and the U.S.
