JK Tyre brings mountain motorsport fever to Gangtok with Sikkim’s first-ever TSD rally

In a historic moment for Sikkim, JK Tyre, in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim, brought the Indian Racing Festival to the hills of Gangtok to mark the state’s golden jubilee of statehood. The grand finale, held at Burtuk Helipad on Tuesday, saw a spectacular turnout despite rains, as motorsport enthusiasts witnessed a stunning showcase of power and precision. The event featured adrenaline-pumping stunts on Superbikes, precision drifting by high-performance Lexus and BMW cars, and a display of FIA-accredited Indian Formula 4 cars and modified stunt vehicles—all powered by JK Tyre’s Levitas Ultra range. Young karting prodigies racing on Rotax Karts stole the show with fearless driving. Akshay Sachdeva, DGP, Sikkim, graced the event as Chief Guest and flagged off the JK Tyre Mountain Rush Rally—Sikkim’s first-ever Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) car rally. The four-day rally from April 23–26 will traverse four districts, with over 40 participating vehicles from across India.

Sanjay Sharma, Head-Corporate Communication & Motorsport, JK Tyre said, “As Sikkim celebrates 50 glorious years as a State of India, we are honoured to be part of this iconic milestone by doing what we do best—bringing the adrenaline of motorsport to the majestic hills. At JK Tyre, we salute the state’s unmatched eco-conscious vision and applaud the enthusiasm and precision of its leadership in curating every detail. We’re here to fuel the thrill, amplify the cheer, and wish every participant an unforgettable, action-packed journey ahead.”The rally kicks off at 7 AM from Ridge Park on April 23 and concludes with a closing ceremony at MG Marg, Gangtok, on April 26.
