The JITO Premier League has started in Kolkata on 26th January and it will continue till 29th January. It is one of the much-awaited events for the Jain community members. This year the Premier League is taking place at the grounds on Bangur Avenue, D Block. This is the Fourth Season to the JITO Premier League and is probably one of the biggest day-night cricket tournaments happening in Kolkata.
There are 180 players playing in the tournament representing 14 Teams. The selection process was extremely exciting and took about 2 months with 1 mega option day with the bidding reaching high levels of anticipation amongst everyone. The JITO Premier League Auction bidding took place on the 5th of January at the Hyatt Regency Kolkata. JITO Chairman, Kolkata Chapter, Bhaven Kamdar said: “This is a great way for the Jain Business community members to come together and compete against each other in cricket. It builds not only team spirit and camaraderie but also a competitive edge to the games”.
The men’s team has 26 matches which will be live cast on YouTube for all 4 days. Sangeeta Baid, Chairperson JITO Ladies Wing stated: “This is the first time in Kolkata that over 45 ladies, aged 20 to 67 are participating in this tournament and I am proud to see their fitness, enthusiasm and team spirit here.”
