The Zonal Jhumoir Dance Training Camp was visited by Jayanta Mallabaruah, the Guardian Minister of Cachar and the Minister for PHE, Housing & Urban Affairs, turning the Town Club Playground in Silchar into a bustling cultural hub. Mayor of Silchar Dipayan Chakraborty, Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatto, and Koushik Rai, Minister for Food Public Distribution, Mines & Minerals, and Barak Valley Development, were also in attendance.
Dancers from the districts of Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi gathered for the training camp to hone their abilities in preparation for the “Jhumoir Binandini” program, which will take place at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati later this month. In addition to enhancing the performance, the camp honored the cultural significance of Jhumoir dance, an Assamese traditional art form. Mallabaruah thanked the young dancers for their enthusiasm and dedication to upholding Assamese customs in his remarks to the media.
He highlighted the government’s continuous efforts to support and preserve traditional practices and conveyed his confidence that their performance in Guwahati will be unforgettable. Dancers and musicians from Cachar, Sribhumi, and Hailakandi will unite at Sarusajai Stadium on February 24th for the highly anticipated Mega Jhumoir Dance Festival. With 180 performers from Cachar, 64 from Sribhumi, and 102 from Hailakandi, this huge festival will be a breathtaking demonstration of Assamese togetherness, rhythm, and culture.
