An armed group of robbers looted jewellery worth crores of rupees from a showroom in Barpeta Road of Assam today
Police said a gang of five robbers barged into Senco Gold & Diamonds showroom, located in the heart of the town, posing as customers. The accused were reportedly armed with pistols and held 9-10 employees at gunpoint and tied their hands with ropes.
The robbers allegedly threatened the staff with dire consequences and carried out the loot for nearly half an hour. They are also said to have assaulted some employees and damaged the CCTV cameras before fleeing the scene with gold and diamond ornaments.
Police reached the spot after being informed about the robbery and began an investigation.
