JBT Marel, a global leader in food processing technology, inaugurated its Global Production Centre (GPC) in India today, marking a significant step in its commitment to serving the Indian and Asia-Pacific markets. The state-of-the-art facility, located at VivanKohli Industrial Estate, Naigaon, Pune, was inaugurated by Brian Deck, CEO of JBT Marel, along with senior executives including Augusto Rizzolo, Bob Petri, and Jack Martin. The GPC is designed to expand production capabilities and showcase advanced, sustainable food processing solutions for the region. Speaking at the event, Augusto Rizzolo, EVP and President, Regions and Integration, highlighted that the facility brings global expertise closer to customers in South Asia and positions India as a key hub for innovation serving the wider Asia market.
India’s food processing industry, contributing nearly 12% to manufacturing GDP and employing over 8 million people, is witnessing rapid growth driven by rising consumer demand for packaged and ready-to-eat foods and government initiatives like Make in India and the PLI Scheme for Food Processing.
In Kolkata, the launch is expected to strengthen the city’s manufacturing and supply chain ecosystem. Local businesses are optimistic about leveraging advanced solutions from JBT Marel’s Pune facility to improve efficiency and competitiveness in food processing and exports. With this initiative, JBT Marel reinforces its mission to “Transform the Future of Food,” focusing on innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric growth in India and beyond.
