In a move to foster community development and entrepreneurship, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has launched a suite of skill development programs in Ranchi. The initiatives, inaugurated by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Shri Sanjay Seth, Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, aim to uplift local women and youth through diverse training opportunities.
The new programs include upskilling women in millet food processing, bamboo handicraft training for tribal women, and recognition of prior learning (RPL) for ‘Rani Mistris’—female masons. Additionally, the launch of the Kaushal Rath mobile training unit will provide hands-on learning across various topics. These efforts are expected to boost local economies and create sustainable livelihoods, with a special focus on promoting traditional skills and modern entrepreneurship.
In the Guwahati market, such initiatives resonate with local entrepreneurs and artisans, who can benefit from the skills and knowledge being developed. This move aligns with broader regional trends of integrating traditional crafts with modern business practices, enhancing both market reach and economic resilience.Shri Chaudhary highlighted the programs as pathways to empowerment and economic independence, promising lasting change in the region’s socio-economic landscape.
