Jayant Chaudhary inaugurates daycare facility at Kaushal Bhawan

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated a new daycare facility for children of employees at Kaushal Bhawan, the headquarters of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in a move aimed at promoting a more inclusive and family-friendly workplace. Spread across nearly 600 square metres, the facility has been designed to provide a safe, nurturing and child-friendly environment for children aged between six months and six years. It includes sleeping and resting areas, play and activity zones, age-appropriate learning resources, hygienic washrooms, child-friendly furniture, and dedicated feeding and baby-changing rooms. The centre will be managed by trained caregivers and support staff.

The ministry said the initiative goes beyond infrastructure and reflects its commitment to supporting working parents by enabling them to balance professional responsibilities with family needs. The facility is expected to contribute to a more people-centric work culture while ensuring quality childcare within the workplace. Secretary Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Director General (Training) Shri Dilip Kumar, NCVET Executive Member Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Gaba, Additional Secretary Shri Niranjan Kumar Sudhansu and several senior officials from MSDE, DGT, NCVET and NSDC were present during the inauguration.

In Guwahati, such employee-focused welfare measures are increasingly gaining importance among public and private sector organisations in the Northeast. Experts believe workplace childcare facilities can improve employee productivity, enhance workforce participation of women, and support the region’s evolving employment ecosystem as India moves towards a more inclusive and future-ready economy.
