Jayant Chaudhary flags off Amazon’s AI skills vans to boost government school learning

Jayant Chaudhary has flagged off two AI Skills Vans in New Delhi, an initiative by Amazon aimed at expanding AI and cloud education access to government school students across Delhi-NCR and Haryana. The mobile learning labs, launched under Amazon’s Think Big initiative, were inaugurated in the presence of David Zapolsky, Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, Amazon. The vans are designed to function as fully equipped mobile ecosystems delivering curriculum-aligned modules on cloud computing, AI fundamentals, computational thinking and ethical AI principles.

In 2026, the two vans are expected to directly engage over 9,000 students and 100 teachers. The teacher training component is projected to create a multiplier effect, reaching an additional 100,000 students over the next five years through classroom integration and peer learning networks. Chaudhary said the initiative supports national missions such as Skill India and the AI Mission, ensuring equitable access to future-ready digital skills. Zapolsky said Amazon has committed to bring AI education to 4 million government school students by 2030.

The programme is being implemented with Learning Links Foundation and builds on Amazon Web Services’ training of over 6.2 million individuals in India since 2017. In Guwahati, such mobile AI labs could accelerate digital literacy adoption in Assam. With growing interest in STEM learning and government school digitisation in the Guwahati market, similar initiatives may create new partnerships between technology firms and public institutions in the region.
