Marking International Women’s Day, ITC Sunrise Spices launched Udyoini, a purpose-driven platform to recognise women changemakers across Assam. Organised in collaboration with Red FM 93.5, the initiative felicitated 15 women achievers from different districts of the state whose leadership, resilience and entrepreneurial efforts have positively impacted their communities.
The programme brought together several institutional stakeholders and government officials, including Smt. Moyuri Ojha, Director of Handloom & Textiles, Ambari, Guwahati; Smti Manju Rani Gogoi Talukdar, Joint Director, Commissionerate of Industries & Commerce at Assam Udyog Bhawan; Shri Mara Kocho, Managing Director of North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd (NEHHDC); Shri Omkarnath Rath, COO of the Department of Innovation, Incubation & Startups, Government of Assam; and Shri Shouvik Chanda, Head and Director of Bureau of Indian Standards, Guwahati.
Women from diverse fields were honoured for their contributions, including retired teacher Dalimi Devi, chef Debayani Bhuyan, journalist Darshana Baruah and entrepreneur Anushka Das, founder of Anurupa Studio. Bhuyan, who runs two office canteens in Beltola, promotes traditional Northeast tribal cuisine, while Dalimi Devi has dedicated her life to educating underprivileged children and training girls in knitting and stitching.
Speaking at the event, Piyush Mishra, Business Head of Sunrise Spices at ITC Ltd., said the initiative aims to provide recognition and institutional support to women changemakers and inspire more women to step forward with confidence.
In Guwahati, platforms like Udyoini are helping create stronger linkages between grassroots entrepreneurs, artisans and institutional networks. With Guwahati emerging as a key commercial hub in the Northeast, such initiatives are expected to enhance visibility for women-led enterprises and open new opportunities for local products and services.
